Well, it’s been nearly 2 months since my last post. I had lots of ideas of blogs I wanted to post and none of them happened. It’s not that I didn’t have the time to post it was just I didn’t want to.

Blogging means that you have to be open an honest with your life because who wants to read someone that’s a robot and isn’t open? I kind of closed myself off a year ago from being as open because everyone it seemed was involved in my business and I just needed my space to breath.

I deleted Facebook, made twitter and Instagram more private. Now I’m back on Facebook, but only posting silly things – no more personal shit. Twitter is more open because I can hide there. Instagram is still private though.

I’m finding that people are just too damn nosy. They don’t really care about what’s going on in your life. They just want to know the drama surrounding your life so that they have something to gossip about. The people that truly DO care about what’s going on in your life already know because you’ve told them and they don’t go around gossiping about you to every tom, dick, and harry that asks. If I wanted you to know the ins and outs of my life I would tell you.

Anyway, I think that’s why I haven’t been blogging. However, I have come to realize that most people don’t know about this blog, therefore, it’s safe to be open. It’s safe to talk so hopefully I will be back.

I’ve been creeping on people I enjoys blogs because I love to read what is going on with the people I care about. It’s time for me to come out of the shadows though. So for now I am back….I think.

Though I’m still toying around with the idea of deleting Facebook…

Weekend Wrap Up

This weekend I didn’t do much. Since I have every weekend in August booked I needed this weekend to kind of just relax and relax I did!

I watched a lot of TV, movies, and some YouTube. I also meal prepped and fought with my AC unit.

Currently I am rocking a window unit in my apartment because my AC keeps leaking in my apartment. Finally 5 calls in 2 weeks and me getting really ugly with them they finally decided, “Oh, we need to gut everything out” Why is it that people don’t take you seriously until you get ugly with them?

I slept in an 80+* apartment twice last week and not ONCE did they offer a window unit until I called this weekend about the same. problem…

I digress, but I believe it’s time to start looking for a new place as much as moving really is NOT something that I want to do right now.

Other than that I am watching the final season of Bates Motel and finishing up laundry.

I have the next month planned for blog posts sooo here’s to hoping I stick to it. I really enjoy blogging – I just have to stop being lazy and actually do it. Before I didn’t have time…now I’m just lazy.

So how was your weekend?

Weekend Shenanigans

This weekend was a really good one. It was relaxing and yet I still did some stuff so it wasn’t a weekend full of sitting around doing nothing.

Friday per usual I got off at 3:30. I had some errands and things to run and then ran to get groceries for meal prep and all that jazz. I had the urge to do something but by the time I got home after shopping I decided to just grab dinner and let that be it for the evening.

Saturday morning I woke up and made a smoothie and then took Salem to get groomed. He’s too young for flea treatments and we just wanted to get him taken care of so I took him to get a bath. The groomer was so sweet and did a really good job! He cried at the beginning but then he settled down and was really great!

After that I took him back home and headed out to meet my cousin in Evansville. I didn’t want to spend my day doing nothing so we made plans to hang out. We met up for lunch, walked the mall, went to a few other stores, of course ended up at Starbucks before I headed home. I wanted to grab nuggets on the go from Chick Fil A, BUT it was closed for remodeling. I also wanted to grab a cupcake from Gigis BUT it has closed permanently. Which kind of makes sense after the AWFUL customer service I received a few months back. I hadn’t been back since, but if that’s how they treated their customers well…

After that Tony met me back home and we picked up some dinner, watched movies, and just enjoyed one another’s company. I have to say he truly is my favorite person to be around. We went through a lot for about 6 months, but I really and truly do feel like it made us stronger. I love him more today than I ever have and that love continues to grow over time.

Sunday we hung out a bit, went to the store, and then picked up lunch and hung out and watched Golden Girls. It was really relaxing and sometimes after we both have had a long work week – him especially working in the heat sometimes you just need some relaxing time.

This week though the focus is kicking myself back into gear health wise. I have meal prepped my breakfasts & lunches for the week, have things that are good for me good to go for dinner, have a little protein thing for before my work outs…it’s time to stop being a  lazy POS and get my butt in gear! There’s literally NO reason not to.

As always I want to use this blog to help keep me accountable.

How was your weekend?

Oh, hi!

Boy, oh boy.

I promise I don’t leave this space intentionally it’s just that sometimes time gets away from me. I enjoy blogging though…so here I am at 10PM on a Sunday night writing this because I’ve been telling myself for weeks now that I needed to write something. I even have blog posts planned out on my calendar…so it’s not even writer’s block that keeps me from posting anything. It’s just pure laziness.

Let’s be honest for a second laziness has kind of taken control of my life. Ever since I quit the video store and got a new job 2 months ago where I don’t have to work late hours after hours I’ve really soaked in the whole lazy thing. I watch a lot of tv, I’ve forgotten about then gym, and I’ve read a few books. Truth is that is NOT an excuse and I have got to get myself out of this lazy hole I’ve dug myself into…

Anyway, so what have I been up to?

Well last weekend Tony and I went down to Louisville Friday night family and friends to see Luke Combs in concert. We had a table at the Hard Rock Cafe and even though some of the crowd can be a bit obnoxious there it was still a lot of fun!

I really like Luke Combs and I was excited to see him in concert and to spent time with people I love.

Saturday was septa recovering from the late night before.

Sunday we headed up to Indy to see Def Leppard and Poison. It was a lot of fun! We ate at 5 guys before and then headed to the show. I”m not a huge huge fan of either, but it was still a lot of fun.

Monday was spent recovering from again another late night – getting home at 2AM.

This past weekend Tony and I went to pick up a new kitten – meet Salem

So far he is very different than Sgt Pepper was as a kitten. He is so wild. He climbs on everything. Tonight I had to tie up my curtains because he would’t stay off of those. I came into the kitchen earlier to find my drawers open and last night he climb up on the counters. Not jumped but CLIMBED with his claws. He’s very sweet and super cuddly, but he is certainly a wild one. Currently he is sitting on my leg I have propped up on a table trying to bite my toes.

This weekend was spent relaxing which was honestly what I needed. I did go Saturday afternoon to a painting thing with some friends, but other than that Tony and I spent some time just relaxing together and enjoying one another’s company. He cooked dinner both nights and it was wonderful.

I am not ready to go back to work tomorrow, but I’m off Tuesday for the 4th so I’ll be able to have another relaxing day soon enough.

Now? It’s time for bed though!

What have you guys been up to?

Meet Tony

Tony and I have been together for over a year and a half. He’s my very best friend and I thought it would be fun to interview him for the blog…

Tony and his friend Toby have also started doing a new horror sketch show – Graveyard Tales. They dress up in their characters Zed and Slash and share old horror films. They have done some podcasts, filmed some commercials for people, and are getting ready to launch their own show on YouTube. If that’s something you’re interested in you should check them out on Facebook. I’m proud of him for it because it’s something he’s wanted to do for a while now and I’m glad he has something for him kind of like how I have my blog here.

Anyway, I hope your week is going great!

I miss the 90s

I was born in 1985 & while I enjoy some of the things from the 80s – The Breakfast Club, Alf, the music BUT I grew UP in the 90s and there are things I miss from the 90s. So I thought that I would share some of those things with you today.

MTV Music / TRL – Yes MTV had music videos prior to the 90s, BUT I’m really talking about TRL here. Remember when MTV actually used to play music? Well, I LIVED for TRL when I got off of school especially when my favorite artists were on there. The first episode aired in 1998 & ran for 10 years before it disappeared among the reality shows MTV now airs. I always wanted to go and see TRL live because they always had the hottest stars on there. I remember watching it when it was revealed that AJ from Backstreet Boys was going to rehab. It was a huge, huge part of my life.

Nickelodeon Slime – On game shows on Nickelodeon in the 90s if you lost you got the slime. It made slime COOL and I always wanted to be slimed. I didn’t care that it meant I was losing. I WANTED TO BE SLIMED.

Sonic the Hedgehog – I was introduced to Sonic the Hedgehog when the brother of the girl that used to babysit my brother and I had a Sega and had this game. We LOVED this game and would stay in his room hanging out playing the game from the time we got done at school until mom or dad came to pick us up.

Disney Channel in Concert – I LOVED this. They would air on Fridays in the 90s and I lived for them. NSYNC, Jessica Simpson, Youngstown, Cleopatra, B*witched, Backstreet Boys, 98 Degrees were all on there and to me it was like seeing them in concert even though it was obviously NOTHING like it. I would be glued to the TV and even record my favorites on a VHS to watch later.

Disney Original Movies – Look, I know that Disney had these before the 90’s, however, I feel like the movies we HAD in the 90s were a lot better – Zenon, Halloweentown, Brink, and Smart House for example. I loved them! I still watch Halloweentown every year.

Friday Pizza & Movie Nights – My love for movies started at a very, very young age because most Fridays growing up were pizza and movie nights in our house. Where we lived they wouldn’t deliver because we were too far out, However, they would deliver to the video store in town so we would have them deliver there and we would go and rent movies. I remember when Hocus Pocus was released I tried for WEEKS to get it and it was always out. I finally got my hands on it. Still to this day at nearly 32 I love Hocus Pocus, but truly I love movies. I have worked at 2 different video stores and own a ton of movies. “Be Kind Rewind”

SNICK – I know I keep saying this BUT I LIVED for Snick growing up. Every Saturday night you could find me watching my favorite shows on here – Clarissa Explains it All, Are You Afraid of the Dark, Adventures of Pete & Pete, The Secret World of Alex Mack, All That, Kenan & Kel. Are You Afraid of the Dark was by FAR my favorite.

Backstreet Boys & NSYNC – I know, I know there’s a huge debate about who is better, but let me just say I love both. Yes, I used love because I will still rock out to them on any given day. Throw in Hanson and man you just made my day!

Nickelodeon Cartoons – In my opinion the cartoons on Nickelodeon in the 90’s were the best. The Angry Beavers, Hey Arnold, Wild Thornberrys, Rugrats, Ren & Stimpy, Ahhh Real Monsters, Doug, Rocko’s Modern Life, etc. They were the best. I recently bought a shirt that has the old cartoons on it and without fail every single time I wear this shirt I get numerous comments on how awesome it is.

Power Rangers – I know the Power Rangers are still around, but I still believe 100% that the original rangers were the best. I remember being in 4th grade and we used to have a Power Ranger club. We had someone represent each of the rangers and I loved the yellow ranger. We would play as the “Power Rangers” during recess and it was a blast. The original rangers will always, always be the best!

When I started sitting here thinking about all these things I had a ton so there will definitely be a part 2 to this. I just loved growing up in the 90s. There was so much that happened in the 90s and I know that it wasn’t perfect but I feel like a lot that I grew up with was truly the best.

What are some things that you miss about the 90s?

Fitness Friday + Recipe – Quinoa Enchilada Casserole

I am still getting in the routine of blogging again. I have tons of ideas it’s just actually sitting down and forming them and doing them. I am excited to share some of them with you!

I went to the gym over the last weekend and while I didn’t make it nearly as much this week I tried to get my eating on point and I am actually DOWN weight.

I want to say that for once I am focused more on being healthy and less of a number on a scale. I know that I will never be skinny. I have curves and I will always be a little more on the curvy side and for once I am okay with that. I want to get rid of my gut and tone my arms a little more. I actually have some definition in my arms and I actually like my legs and thighs. Sure they could stand to lose a little more weight, but overall they are muscle and I know I will never have a thigh gap (and that’s not what I’m striving for)

For the first time in my life it’s not about a number on a scale. It is about being healthy and happy. I want to love myself and the person that I see in the mirror. I feel like I’m on the right track and while I may not have worked out as much as I wanted to this week I had some of the best work outs I’ve had in a very long time.

Quinoa Enchilada Casserole

I found this recipe from Damn Delicious and I was super eager to try it. The ingredients were simple but I was certain that they recipe was going to be great. It was easy enough and was the perfect thing for my meal prep this week and let me tell you – it was delicious. Next time though I do think I will add chicken to it.

  • 1 cup quinoa (I used the roasted red pepper & basil – You can use whatever you find)
  • 1 (10-ounce) can enchilada sauce
  • 1 (4.5-ounce) can chopped green chilis – drained
  • 1/2 cup corn kernels, frozen, canned or roasted
  • 1/2 cup canned black beans, drained and rinsed (I actually used the whole can)
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 3/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • 3/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese, divided

  1. In a large saucepan of 2 cups water, cook quinoa according to the instructions –

  2. Preheat oven to 375.
  3. In a large bowl, combine quinoa, enchilada sauce, green chiles, corn, black beans, cilantro, cumin and chili powder; season with salt and pepper, to taste. Stir in 1/2 cup cheddar cheese and 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese.
  4. Spread quinoa mixture into a greased baking dish. Top with remaining cheeses.

5. Place into oven and bake until bubbly and cheeses have melted, about 15 minutes.

Food blogger I am not, but I am going to try next time to use my actual camera to step it up and see if I can get better pictures.

Hope you guys have a wonderful weekend!
